Advisor: Buddy D. Ratner

Department/status: Post-doc

Project overview:
We are interested in developing cell scaffolds for cardiac tissue engineering that provide ample nutrient and oxygen transport throughout the scaffold. We hypothesize that creating open, parallel channels within a porous scaffold will enhance nutrient transport. We have developed a unique method based on photolithography techniques that enables the patterning of a porous poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (pHEMA) hydrogel.

Skills:
Photopolymerization and tissue engineering

Relevant honors or funding:
NIH NRSA Post-doc fellowship
