Department/status: 1st year grad student

Project overview:
I am working to develop an artificial esophagus consisting of oriented smooth muscle layers and differentiated epithelium. My current focus is in forming an interpenetrating network of a fibrin hydrogel and a PLGA scaffold. This construct will be used to form a muscle layer with the benefits of good mechanical properties and a provisional growth matrix for the SMCs.

Skills:
Proficient in: Tissue Culture, Histology, Immunohistochemistry, Real-Time RT-PCR, Western, Southern, Protein extraction, Mechanical testing, and Statistical analysis
