Project overview:
I am working to develop an artificial esophagus consisting of oriented smooth muscle layers and differentiated epithelium. My current focus is in forming an interpenetrating network of a fibrin hydrogel and a PLGA scaffold. This construct will be used to form a muscle layer with the benefits of good mechanical properties and a provisional growth matrix for the SMCs.
