Project overview:
The proteoglycan decorin is being evaluated as a means of reducing foreign body capsule formation around implants through its binding and inactivation of transforming growth factor beta, a profibrotic cytokine. This research will focus on the development of a decorin surface coating and evaluation of the in vitro and in vivo properties of this coating.
